Explore everything you need to know about Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s wedding:
1. They got married on a lake in Italy.
They tied the knot in September 2013 at the historic Villa Pizzo on Italy’s Lake Como. The villa dates all the way back to the 1400s and “prides itself as being one of the most exclusive wedding locations in Northern Italy.”
Teigen posted a photo of her kissing Legend with the lake and mountains in the background, and, yeah … it made for an absolutely breathtaking backdrop.
But the location wasn’t selected at random. Legend told Martha Stewart Weddings that one of the first vacations he and Teigen took together was to Lake Como, and that the venue "fit the rustic-chic, elegant-but-not-too-glossy" look that they were going for.
Here are some additional photos of the stunning venue:
2. They had a four-tiered carrot cake.
Cream cheese frosting and beautiful greens and flowers completed the confection. The cake was so phenomenal that Teigen gave it a shoutout on Instagram five years later, writing, in part, “I miss you, giant cake.”
3. The guest list was starstudded.
Kanye West, Stevie Wonder and Brooklyn Decker, who was one of Teigen’s bridesmaids, headlined the list. Not only that, but Wonder performed “Ribbon in the Sky” for the guests and the couple, Legend sang “All of Me” to Teigen, and Biz Markie was DJ. Talk about an entertaining night!
4. Teigen wore three dresses.
And they were all designed by Vera Wang.
“Every time I went in for a fitting, I couldn’t stop getting one,” she told E! News. “It’s just too pretty.”
Here’s a peek at the three looks:
5. The ceremony was delayed for hours.
“(The guests) had a lot of cocktails, because the ceremony was running about four hours behind,” Teigen told The Knot. “Yeah … (some of our) family missed their flight. The flight was canceled, and I wasn’t even aware of it because everyone wanted to keep it a secret from me. They didn’t want to stress me out. So whatever it was, it was a lot.”
