Next door to his renowned izakaya-style restaurant, Pabu, Chef Ken Tominaga has paired with renowned chef Michael Mina to bring quick and casual ramen to the San Francisco Financial District. The Ramen Bar collaboration is a must-try amongst west coast ramen enthusiasts. It fuses familiar California cooking philosophy with Japanese techniques to distinguish a new kind of ramen. Menu items include ginger chicken, Tokyo-style ramen, mushroom and soy, among others. Like it’s next door neighbor, Pabu, The Ramen Bar boasts tall open windows that look out onto a splendid courtyard in jungle of high rises. Inside, there is neat thoughtful seating and an ample wooden counter with plenty of stools. The feel of the place is clean and organized, partly because of the exposed view into the kitchen that runs efficiently like a well-maintained machine. White tiles line the walls and colorful individually wrapped Japanese snacks are displayed on rope suspended shelving.
