The West Woods, Geauga Park District Overview
The West Woods is a charmingly historic and naturally gorgeous space for your wedding celebration. The West Woods is a 902-acre park that protects the historic sandstone ledges of Ansel’s Cave, Silver Creek and its watershed, extensive wetlands and mature forests. According to local legend, Ansel’s Cave once sheltered Civil War soldiers and munitions, runaway slaves on the Underground Railroad, Prohibition-era bootleggers, and Geauga County resident Ansel Savage. This unique history radiates through the space and the outdoor spaces, with their wooden overhangs, are perfect for outdoor wedding celebrations. Imagine eating, drinking, and dancing with your friends and family surrounded by towering trees and the clear blue sky. For a more intimate celebration, the Lewis & Ruth Affelder House offers a space with huge floor to ceiling windows with elegant red coverings and a cozy fireplace perfect for a small wedding celebration. The West Woods, with its history and quaint charm, is a beautiful space for your special day.Venue Notes
The rental fee is $100 for a ceremony and reception and includes 17 hours of rental time excluding set up and clean up time. The fee for a ceremony only wedding is $100. Please note, rental fees (not including utility fees) are waived for county residents; inquire with venue for details. Special use permit is required for bringing in rental items (i.e. chairs). Please note, heat is turned on for all reservations taking place between October 15 through April 1st; heat fee is $30 per session.Amenities And Requirements
